Dr Abu Alfa is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He is a graduate of the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine. Dr Abu Alfa completed his fellowship training in gastrointestinal and liver pathology at the Yale University School of Medicine and completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Dr Abu Alfa has authored several research articles on gastrointestinal and endocrine pathology and on clinical chemistry. He is an active member of the American Gastroenterological Association, the Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, the College of American Pathologists, and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Dr Alsaigh is board-certified in anatomic pathology. She is a graduate of King Saud Medical School, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where she was first in her class. Dr Alsaigh trained in anatomic pathology at New England Deaconess Hospital, where she was chief resident, and went on to complete fellowships in both gastrointestinal pathology and hematopathology. Her research at Deaconess focused on lymphoid disorders of the gastrointestinal system.

Dr Farrier is board-certified in anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. He received his medical degree and completed a residency at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa. Dr Farrier has special interests in molecular biology and gastrointestinal pathology. He is a member of the College of American Pathologists and the American Society of Clinical Pathologists. On completion of his residency in 1998, Dr Farrier joined DIANON Systems and has practiced gastrointestinal pathology since that time. In 2001 he was named medical director for DIANON Systems in Tampa, Fla, and in 2008 he was named divisional medical director of LabCorp/DIANON Systems.

Dr Fox is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine in Mobile. Dr Fox completed a residency at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn, which included rotations at St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. After residency, he worked for 12 years at LabCorp’s Memphis-area laboratory, serving there for 10 years as medical director. In 1996, Dr Fox joined DIANON Systems, where he was involved primarily in the gastrointestinal pathology service. After 8 years with DIANON, he transferred to DIANON-North Carolina as co-director of gastrointestinal pathology.

Dr Ilasi is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. After graduating from the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, he trained at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, NY, where he also completed a one-year fellowship in general surgical pathology. Before joining DIANON Systems, Dr Ilasi was a member of the attending staff at North Shore University Hospital and received extensive training and sign-out responsibilities in pathologic diseases of the breast.

Dr Kamal is board certified in anatomic pathology. He received his medical degree from Cairo University School of Medicine, Cairo, Egypt. He completed pathology training at Harbor UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif, and subspecialty training in the Klaus Lewin Gastrointestinal and Liver Pathology Fellowship Program at UCLA. He has research interests in the areas of gastrointestinal and liver pathology and medical device technology. His current research activity is in Barrett’s esophagus and associated dysplastic and neoplastic changes. After earning her medical degree at the University of Puerto Rico Medical School, Dr Díaz completed a residency at the Emory University Affiliated Hospitals in Atlanta, Ga, and went on to complete a fellowship in gastrointestinal and liver pathology. Dr Díaz was the specialty director for gastrointestinal pathology at DIANON Systems in Florida from 1999 until 2007. Dr Lawhorn is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He completed his training at Loma Linda University School of Medicine and Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu. Dr Liu is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. She received her medical degree from the Inner Mongolia Medical College, Hohhot, People’s Republic of China, and holds a doctorate from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Dr Liu completed residency training in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and the University of Louisville. She then completed a fellowship in gastrointestinal pathology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Dr Liu has extensive research experience in areas including molecular biology and pharmacology. She also has a number of publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented frequently in national academic meetings. Her latest clinical research in GI pathology has resulted in publications in American Journal of Surgical Pathology and Modern Pathology.

She received her medical degrees from Southeast University Medical College and Nanjing Medical University. She received her fellowship training in hematopathology at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio. Dr Tennyson is board-certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. He received his doctorate in experimental pathology and his medical degree from the State University of New York, Stony Brook. Dr Tennyson completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill and a fellowship in surgical and gastrointestinal pathology at the University of Pennsylvania. After a visiting fellowship in hepatopathology with Professor Peter Scheuer at the Royal Free Hospital in London, Dr Tennyson assumed positions as assistant professor and head of the liver pathology unit at the University of Alabama. He was then an associate professor and director of anatomic pathology at the University of Florida Medical Center in Jacksonville before joining the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He had his residency training at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC. He also completed fellowships in molecular biology and immunopathology at the University of Toronto, Canada, and at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md, respectively. Elizabeth A. Montgomery, MD - Associate Professor of Pathology, The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine
Dr Montgomery is a nationally renowned academic gastrointestinal pathologist. She graduated from the George Washington University School of Medicine. Dr Montgomery trained in anatomic and clinical pathology at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. She subsequently held several academic appointments. Dr Montgomery has published numerous articles and several book chapters. She has additional experience in bone and soft tissue pathology.
