Quality: Raising the standard in anatomic and molecular pathology

As the leading provider of anatomic and molecular pathology services, DIANON continues to offer the high quality standards of an academic medical center and the personal service of a local pathologist.

The DIANON 4 Steps to Quality
Step 1 - Subspecialty expertise: A DIANON pathologist with subspecialty expertise reviews every pathology case. For example, pathologists with expertise in urologic disease review all urology specimens. This approach is also followed in dermatology, hematology, and gastroenterology.

Step 2 - Intradepartmental review: Each day a team of experts from every subspecialty holds an intradepartmental review at a multi-headed microscope to examine all unusual, suspicious, or malignant cases. These sub-specialty conferences ensure multiple pathology experts review all significant or challenging diagnoses.

Step 3 - The latest technology: Cases requiring further study may receive special histochemical stains that contribute to a definitive diagnosis. DIANON offers immunofluorescence, immunohistochemistry, and virology testing to help reach and confirm final diagnoses.

Step 4 - Expert consultants: DIANON contracts with leading university-based expert pathologists in the areas of uropathology, gastrointestinal pathology, and dermatopathology for those few cases in which a diagnosis remains questionable after the first three quality steps. This final step ensures that every measure has been taken to arrive at a definitive diagnosis.
